The expertise of a leading fenestration systems company in blast resistance has been called into play for the design and building of the new Welsh Assembly Government office at Llandudno Junction in North Wales. Sapa Building Systems were one of the few companies able to supply a blast resistant glazing system robust enough to meet government security requirements. Main contractor for the £21m JCT Design and Build contract is Pochin Construction, and the new 8,800m2 office facilities will ultimately accommodate up to 650 staff.

Sapa Building Systems' newly launched Elegance 72 Unitised Curtain Walling System has flown through its weather testing, recording some of the best results ever seen at Taylor Woodrow Technology Centre. The testing programme followed CWCT Test Sequence A (static), B (dynamic) and BS/EN 13830 testing. Elegance 72 achieved highly impressive air and wind resistance figures.

Sapa Building Systems' windows and curtain walling have helped to transform a treasured landmark Art Deco building in Glasgow. Baird Hall has been converted into contemporary private apartments with the highly distinctive facade carefully retained and updated. The eight-storey building was built in 1938 as the Beresford Hotel and was described as Glasgow's first skyscraper. The hotel was originally used for visitors to the Empire Exhibition, and then became a favourite rendezvous for American servicemen during the Second World War.
