This year’s Interbuild is coming over all green fingered with the news that eco-warrior David Bellamy will be opening the show’s very own sustainable community - The Village. The botanist, author, broadcaster, and environmental campaigner will be on hand to give the show the VIP treatment during the first two days of the exhibition (26-27 October). As well as formally introducing this year’s new environmental show feature on the opening day, Bellamy will also present the Eco Product Award winner at the New Product Showcase during Monday’s ceremony.

Alistair Darling deemed that all non-domestic buildings must be zero carbon by 2019, building on the existing 2016 target for new homes. He also announced more help for homeowners to install insulation into existing stock, with a £26m increase in funding for the Green Home Service.

Data analysis of the 2004, 2006 and 2007 events reveals that the number of overseas exhibitors has more than doubled since EMAP Construct acquired Interbuild in 2004. Figures reveal an 80 per cent increase between 2004 and 2006 and a further 20 per cent growth by 2007, with near 300 international exhibitors involved in last year’s show.
