Willmott Dixon has completed work on a facility in Aberystwyth that aims to enhance research into genetics, agriculture and ecology. The research station and greenhouse at the Gogerddan campus at Aberystwyth University creates a range of artificial conditions allowing students and researchers at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) to monitor the growth and response of plants under various climates. The intricate construction process saw 1,274 polycarbonate panes used within the greenhouse.

Wienerberger’s Porotherm system has been selected as one of a limited number of sustainable, innovative products used at the groundbreaking Housing Innovation Showcase in Dunfermline, Scotland. The Housing Innovation Showcase is a £3.3m joint venture between Kingdom Housing Association and Fife Council, supported by Fife Construction Forum and Green Business Fife. The project saw the construction of 27 new homes using sustainable building methods and products, as part of a trial to identify the best systems available on the market for mainstream affordable housing programmes.

More than 60 bras have been handed in by women from the Walsall-based housing organisation. Their unwanted underwear will be added to a growing collection from across the Midlands in a bid to create a record-braking ‘bra chain’ of more than 100 miles.

VBH started life in 1982 as Heinz Wagner (GB) Ltd, a subsidiary of VBH Group company Heinz Wagner GmbH, based in Germany. The company was situated in a small office/warehouse unit in Rochester, Kent, moving to the current purpose-built building in 1995.
